DragonBox Numbers
This app does cost $7.99 and there are many different levels so it could end up being quite expensive if you invested in all of them. 
What I like about DragonBox Numbers (which is the one geared towards younger children) is that they make it into fun characters games, which appeals to younger children who are technology obsessed. I also like that they use the appropriate language for numbers in each place value (it's not "3" it's "3 tens") and it has a visual representation. 
DragonBox Numbers starts the series, but they have many other apps for children at different levels as well. Check it out!

Virtual Manipulatives!
I have been participating in lots of professional development, and a common theme was the importance of manipulatives. With technology, I wanted to find virtual manipulative apps to share. So this week, it's Virtual Manipulatives! This is a free app with no in-ad purchases. Hopefully, you will find it useful in your teaching.

Prodigy Math Game
Get the app or use it on any computer. This app aligns with common core standards, adjusts to a student's ability level, is super engaging for students, and is free (has in-app purchases). BrainPOP
Here's an amazing app. While it covers more than just math, I find the math engaging. There are quick math cartoon videos which can be followed by a quick "quiz" for each one. You can get a free version with limited access, but I found it addicting so I had to purchase full access for $6.99. I think it's definitely worth the money, especially because it covers more than math. And the amount of math topics- there are MANY (over 80 topics including: algebra, data analysis, geometry/measurement, numbers/operations, practical math, probability, and ratios/proportions/percentage)! Download the limited access before you purchase full access to make sure it's what you're looking for.  Appropriate grade levels are 4th-6th, but can also be used to challenge advanced younger learners as well.

You can use this on a computer for free, but they also have an app you can download for $4.99
I like this app because it helps children practice their math facts- something lacking from the new Common Core instruction in classrooms. Knowing your facts makes solving other math problems much easier. So whether you use it on the computer or the app, XtraMath will help your children master those addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts.
